 As placer miners and later as the proprietors of the Ellis Hotel in Placerville, Idaho, three generations of the John and Winifred Ellis family were an integral part of life in the Boise Basin. Like many residents of the area, their roots were in Ireland, but unlike most, their tenure in this mining area above Boise, Idaho, lasted seventy years. Pat Emmert Manning
